Fronts are sized to fill the box, alone or stacked. A tall pantry, for example, often uses two doors stacked to reach the full height.
Door and drawer front heights are built around the box heights above, in common steps like 15, 20, 30, and 40 inches, with shorter drawer fronts near 5, 10, and 15 inches to fill a bank of drawers. Widths follow the cabinet widths, minus the reveal.
Why fronts are smaller than the box
Every Sektion front is cut about 1/8 inch (3mm) smaller than the box opening. That small gap, called the reveal, lets doors and drawers open and close without rubbing the ones beside them.
This matters when you order custom fronts. A good IKEA-compatible door is built to that same 1/8-inch reveal and drilled for the standard 35mm hinge, so it drops onto your box the way the original did.
How to use these sizes to order custom fronts
- Find your cabinet widths and heights, either from your IKEA order list or by measuring the boxes.
- Note which openings are doors and which are drawer fronts.
- Match each to the standard sizes above so you know what to order.
- Measure your actual existing doors as a double-check, since real sizes run about 1/8 inch under nominal.

Should you trust the chart or measure?
Use the chart to plan, but measure before you buy. Older kitchens, the discontinued Akurum system, and custom fillers can throw the numbers off.
Sektion replaced the older Akurum boxes in 2015, and the two are not the same size. If your kitchen predates 2015, measure carefully or confirm the system before ordering, because Sektion fronts will not fit an Akurum box.
